Interview with the creator of mobile construction 3D-printer
One of the partners and participants of the conference will be the Apis Cor company. On the eve of the conference, we talked to the manager Nikita Chen-iun-tai about the activities of the company as a whole and how it relates to the Intensive PRO.
— Nikita, please tell our readers about your company a little.
— Apis Cor company is the developer and manufacturer of the world’s first mobile construction 3D printer. In order to solve the global problem of affordable housing, our team has created a unique system of 3D printing that allows you to build an entire house directly at the construction site. We are confident that this innovative approach could make a breakthrough in the construction industry and change the perception of how to build cheap and reliable homes of future.
— Why do you think digital manufacturing is a promising direction and how is that reflected in your practice?
— The perspectives of digital manufacturing can be evaluated if we start with looking at the idea of 3D printing in general. Thousands of people worldwide acquire or construct their own 3D printers, because it allows them to take unique production capabilities in their own hands. They no longer need to search for products from commercial manufacturers to fit their needs, they can independently design objects from scratch, taking advantage of digital design tools flexibility or exchange and find digital files online. At the dawn of home 3D printing we were limited to plastic, today we see a whole plethora of 3D printers capable of printing using variety of materials: glass, metal, carbon. As the capabilities of 3D printers continue to grow, people can print any product imaginable in accordance with their needs, at home and for an affordable price. The same ideas move our development forward. We open a new opportunity to the people — to print with a material that allows you to get a building at an affordable price, in a short time, in any place and, most importantly, to suit your needs. A building designed in digital 3D format becomes real before your very eyes. Now a house of our dreams is just a click away.
— Why are you interested in partnership with MARSH?
— We are actively seeking cooperation opportunities with leading organizations in the field of construction and architecture. Because our technology is very new, for us it is an opportunity to give first-hand information to those who are really interested in it. New developments need strong reviews by specialists in their respective fields of activity. It is necessary to receive global assessment to promote further development of the product. We are happy to have the chance to tell about the possibilities and prospects of digital approach in construction to designers, architects, engineers, and all those who want to be on the verge of modern technology, and keep in pace with time.
